Unlocking the collection

North East Lincolnshire Council opened up its full photographic, artefacts and arts collections to the public in a series of exhibitions at the Fishing Heritage Centre.

The council was awarded £50,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund to provide a total of 15 exhibitions between 2010 and 2014.

Each of the exhibitions was accompanied by a bespoke series of outreach activities, aiming to uncover the history behind the items on show.

The exhibitions enabled local people to learn more about the collection and also about the heritage of the area. Some of the workshops were tailored to adults and some to children, so there really was something for everybody.
