The Library and Care Plus Group
Background to Care Plus projects work
North East Lincolnshire Library Service started working with Care Plus Group some years ago when students with learning disabilities visited the Reference and Local History Library on a weekly basis to learn about family history research. When this particular work came to an end, we wanted to find a way to continue working with learning disabled people and the Olympics in London 2012 gave us the perfect opportunity.
The Library Service successfully obtained funding from the Arts Council to run two Sporting Voices projects examining the impact of sport on people with learning disabilities in North East Lincolnshire and how it could enrich and change their lives.
Further projects continue to be developed utilising the Library Local History Collection of local photographs, and enabling us to retain an archive of the audio-documentaries produced providing a snapshot of life in 21st century North East Lincolnshire.
